TradeSoft 1.3.0 is here, plus additional improvements
Discussions, ranks and leaderboards now work in the mobile app, plus a directory of the businesses trading on TradeSoft with a map of their stores. Most of this already worked on the web app. This is the app catching up.
Where you can get it
Most of what follows already worked in the web app. Version 1.3.0 is the app catching up: the discussion boards and ranks, medals and leaderboards both launched on the web in August with a note that they were coming to mobile. This is that update.
Version 1.3.0 is out now on the App Store for iOS, and on the test track for our Android testers, who were still in closed testing on Google Play at the time.
Nothing here needs setting up. Ranks and medals were already worked out for your account when they launched on the web, the boards are on for everyone signed in, and the new privacy switches all start in the position you would expect.
Discussions
There is now a discussion board in the app, under Community > Discussions. Five boards: General Chat, New to Airsoft, Tech & Upgrades, Gear & Loadouts and Gameplay & Tactics. You can start a thread, reply to anyone, reply to a reply, and vote threads and comments up or down. Filter the feed by board, search thread titles, and change the sort order.
Typing @ while you write brings up a list of members, so you can tag someone into a thread and they get a notification. Reply directly to someone and they are notified whether or not you tag them, because they are already in the conversation. Your own threads and replies appear on your profile under Discussions.
TradeSoft already had two ways to talk to one person: questions on a listing, and direct messages. Both are tied to a single item and a single seller. Discussions is for everything that is not about one listing, like tech advice, loadout opinions, or working out where to play. Nothing about questions or messages changes.
The rules are the same ones the board launched with. The original discussions post covers them in full, including how mentions bind to a person rather than to the text, and what happens when you delete a post.
Ranks, medals and leaderboards
Every account has a rank, running from Recruit at the bottom up to Brigadier, earned with points. You pick up points for completing a sale or a purchase, leaving feedback, receiving good feedback, publishing a listing, answering questions on your own listings, verifying your phone, joining a verified club, completing your profile, and submitting a feature request.
Medals sit alongside the rank. Some are one-offs, like Founding Member or Kitted Out. Others come in bronze, silver and gold for volume, like Trader, Reviewer and Lister. Both show on your profile, under // RANK and // MEDALS.
Community > Leaderboards has the standings, with a SEASON view and an ALL TIME view, each of which can be narrowed to a single club or region. Seasons are calendar quarters, and the top three of a finished season each keep a placement medal.
Feedback already tells you whether one person is worth trading with. Rank is the other half of that: it reflects how much someone actually does here, over time, rather than how the last few deals went. On a listing card the score you see is still the feedback rating, because that is the number that matters when you are deciding whether to send a stranger money.
Your AirsoftTrader history counts
Your trading history carried over from AirsoftTrader counts towards your points. That history came across as feedback rather than as trades, so each migrated review was credited as one trade. All time standings include it. Season boards start from the launch quarter, Q3 2026, because your 2018 trades cannot count towards a quarter that finished before TradeSoft existed.
The full ranks and medals post has the complete list of ranks, all 27 medals, and what a rank does and does not tell you about someone.
Businesses on TradeSoft
Community > Businesses lists the airsoft retailers and commercial venues trading on TradeSoft. Search them, filter by region, or switch to MAP VIEW to see their stores on a map, with DIRECTIONS on each one.
Each business gets a page with its stores and opening hours, contact details, trade rating, description, listings, and any events it is running. Clubs were already listed under Community. Businesses now are too.
The In-Trade marker
Listings from a business carry an IN-TRADE marker. Tap it and you get the reason: buying from a business means the Fair Trading Act applies to that sale, which it does not for a private trade. TradeSoft is not a party to the sale.
Who you are buying from changes your legal position, and until now the app gave you no reliable way to tell. That is all the marker says. It means "this is a business", nothing more: it is not a recommendation, and TradeSoft does not verify, endorse or vouch for any business on the directory. That is exactly why it is a building icon and not a shield. Section 12 of the Terms of Use covers where a commercial seller stands.
Two filters that go with it
- Exclude nationwide retailers. On Browse, this drops online-only retailers from a region you have selected, so the region shows you only what you can collect there.
- ORGANISER, on the events feed. The filter now lists clubs and businesses together, since business events run on the same events system clubs use.
Listing cards, rebuilt
The bottom line of a listing card now reads left to right: a building icon if a business is selling, a shield if the seller is club verified, a phone marker if they have verified a number, their name, and their feedback rating on the right. Location shows on the card too.
A seller with no reviews yet shows nothing at all rather than 0.0, because an absent score is not a bad score.
The web app cards already showed all of this. The app cards did not, which meant the same listing looked less trustworthy on a phone than it did on a computer.
Privacy settings
Settings > Privacy is new in the app, with three switches:
- Show my discussions on my profile. Turn it off and the Discussions section stops appearing to other people.
- Prevent discussion tagging. Turn it on and you stop appearing in the @ list, so nobody can tag you.
- Show my name on leaderboards. Turn it off and you appear as "Private user", keeping your position, points and medals.
Smaller changes
- More wishlist filters. Wishlists can now filter by distance from your town, plus Shipping available, Open to trades, Accepts offers and Club verified sellers.
- Links in messages are tappable. Descriptions got this in 1.2.0. Messages have it now.
- Three new notification settings, under Settings > Push notifications: Discussion replies, Discussion mentions, and Ranks and medals.
Limits worth knowing
- You have five minutes to edit a thread or a comment. After that the edit window closes and the wording is fixed. That is a fixed value, not something you set.
- Deleting your own comment leaves a marker. The text goes, your name stays, and the reply shows as deleted by author. That is deliberate: quietly removing a comment breaks the conversation underneath it for everyone else.
- Posting limits. 6 new threads per hour, 30 replies per hour, and 15 seconds between replies. All fixed. If you hit one, the app tells you how long to wait.
- Discussions do not earn points. Ranks come from trading, feedback, listings and answering questions. Posting is not scored, because points are meant to track trading activity, and scoring posts would just reward whoever talks the most.
- Business accounts cannot use the app. Sign in with one and you get a single screen pointing you at nz.tradesoft.app. Everything a business does (listings, buyer messages, public profile, plan) is on the website, and it works best on a computer. Buying and selling privately needs a separate TradeSoft account on a different email address, and there is no way to convert one into the other.
- Opening hours can be wrong on public holidays. Ring the store.
- Distance filters need your region and closest town set on your profile, and they measure to the listing's town. A listing with no town set never matches a distance filter. See editing your profile if you have not filled those in.
- Exclude nationwide retailers only works with a region selected. With no region there is nothing for it to narrow.
- Season leaderboards start at Q3 2026. Your carried-over AirsoftTrader history counts towards all time standings, not towards a season that ended before TradeSoft existed.
The app still does not do everything the web app does. It is a lot closer than it was in July.
