Found a club?
Here is how day one goes.
Most New Zealand clubs are community-run and glad to see new faces. A little prep makes your first game a lot smoother.
-
Message the club first
Most clubs want you to RSVP before the day, and private fields rarely work as a drop-in. The club profile on TradeSoft shows their upcoming games and how to reach them.
-
Ask about hire gear
Many clubs and commercial fields hire out a replica and eye protection, so you can play before you spend anything.
-
Know the FPS limits
Every field sets its own limits for rifles, DMRs and snipers. If you are bringing your own replica, know its output. Our FPS guide covers the common ones.
-
Eye protection is not optional
Rated full-seal goggles or a mask are required at every legitimate NZ field. Lower-face protection is a good idea too.
-
Travel discreetly
Keep replicas in a bag or case and out of sight on the way there and back. Never carry one openly in public. Our legal guide explains why.
Questions
Where can I play airsoft in New Zealand?
There are airsoft clubs and fields from Northland to Southland, with the most in Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury. This page lists every club on TradeSoft by region, along with the public games they have coming up in the next 30 days.
How do I find an airsoft club near me?
Choose your region at the top of this page (or let it detect your region) and it shows the clubs and upcoming games near you. Tap any region on the map to see the clubs there, then open a club profile on TradeSoft to see its events and get in touch.
Can beginners join an airsoft club in NZ?
Yes. Most New Zealand clubs welcome new players, and many run regular open game days. Contact the club before your first game so they know you are coming and can tell you what to bring.
Do I need my own gear for my first game?
Usually not. Many clubs and commercial fields hire out replicas and eye protection, so you can try airsoft before you buy anything. When you are ready to buy, second-hand gear on TradeSoft is a cheap way to get started.
How old do you need to be to play airsoft in NZ?
Each club sets its own age rules. Many have a minimum age and need a parent or guardian to sign off for players under 18, so check with the club before you go.
