TradeSoft 1.3.3, plus listing and event improvements
Rotate your photos before a listing goes up, upgrade a live listing to Featured straight from My Listings, and find HPA parts in their own section. Club managers can also choose how many dates of a recurring series show at once.
Where you can get it
This one is split across both apps, so each section below says which is which as it goes.
- Mobile app 1.3.3. Photo rotation and the portrait notice, the upgrade shortcut in My Listings, HPA in the create flow, featured event cards, the Exclude WTB listings filter, and a message box fix.
- The web app. HEIC photo uploads, the upgrade shortcut, HPA, featured event cards, Dates shown at once for club managers, the Exclude WTB listings filter, and the latest message in each conversation in your inbox.
- Everyone, already live. Selling no longer archives your message threads, and events now stay listed until the end of the day they run on. Both are server side, so they apply whatever version you are on.
Version 1.3.3 is out now on the App Store for iOS and on Google Play for Android. Update from there to get the mobile changes. There is nothing to do on the web app.
Rotate a photo before your listing goes up
On the mobile app, the photo step now shows each photo at its real shape in a landscape box, so you can see straight away which way up it is. Any photo you have just added has a rotate button in its corner. Tap it to turn the photo clockwise until it sits right. If one of the photos you are adding is portrait, a line under the grid tells you, and suggests rotating any that were taken sideways.
Listing cards are landscape. A photo taken sideways looks fine in your camera roll and wrong on your listing. Until now the only fix was to leave TradeSoft, rotate it in Photos, then come back and pick it again. The tiles used to be square with the photo cropped to fill, which made a portrait photo and a landscape one look identical, so you could not see the problem before publishing.
iPhone photos now upload on the web app
If your iPhone saves photos in Apple's HEIC format, those photos now upload properly on the web app, both on listings and in messages.
Before this, a HEIC photo could be dropped without telling you. Your listing published with fewer photos than you picked, or none, and there was no error to explain it. If you have listed from an iPhone on a computer and wondered where a photo went, this was why. The mobile app was never affected.
Upgrade a live listing without editing it
My Listings now offers an upgrade on each of your live listings. On the web app there is an Upgrade button on the row. On the mobile app there is a button in the top right corner of the card, which explains what is about to happen before it takes you to the tier options, where you choose the tier and pay.
Upgrading was already possible: you opened the listing for editing and changed its tier there. What is new is that My Listings offers it directly, and it tells you which tier you can move up to, so a Featured listing is offered Featured Max rather than a list of tiers you already have. Our guide to Free, Featured and Featured Max listings covers what each tier actually does.
The upgrade was buried in an edit flow, which is a strange place to find a purchase. This puts it next to the listing it pays for.
HPA has its own section under Parts
Parts now has an HPA section, alongside AEG Parts, Gas Parts and Spring Parts. Tanks, regulators, lines, engines and their fittings had nowhere to go except Parts > Other.
Parts is split by the platform a component belongs to, and HPA was the one platform missing. Airsoft Replicas already had an HPA section, so buyers searching for HPA found complete replicas but not the parts. Anything already listed under Parts > Other stays where it is, so it is worth editing an HPA listing to move it across.
Featured events
The events pages can now carry a larger card at the top for an event TradeSoft has picked out. It appears on the events directory, the home screen, and club and business profiles, and carries a Featured label.
Featured events ignore the filters you have set, which is the point of a pin, and the event still appears in its ordinary place in the list of dates below. So you do not lose a date from the list, you see it twice.
The events list is ordered by date, which is right almost all of the time and wrong for a one-off worth knowing about, like a large game with tickets that sell out. Events are chosen by TradeSoft. There is no way for a club to request or buy this today.
Club managers: how many dates of a series show at once
When you create or edit a recurring event in Club management > Events, there is a new option: Dates shown at once. Choose from Just the next date up to The next 6 dates. As one date finishes, the next one appears.
Every date is still created and still editable by you, exactly as before. This only limits how many of them the public sees at a time. If someone has RSVP'd to a date, they keep seeing it even when it sits outside the window.
Recurring events already save you from creating the same game 20 times. What they did not do is keep the public events list readable: a weekly series filled the page with the same event over and over, which pushed everyone else's events down. Now you keep the full run for your own planning and show a tidy few. If you manage a club and have not been through the rest of it, the club management overview is the place to start, and event drafts, copy and delete plus member pricing and amenities cover the rest of the event form. You can also put your events on your own website.
Selling no longer archives your messages
Marking a listing sold used to archive your message threads for that listing. It no longer does. This is already live for everyone, on both apps, whatever version you are on.
The conversation with your buyer, including the delivery address they sent you, disappeared at the exact moment you needed it. You can still archive any thread yourself, one at a time.
Smaller changes
- Exclude WTB listings. A new browse filter on both apps, for when you are shopping and not interested in wanted ads. On the web app, Exclude nationwide retailers now explains itself with a tooltip.
- Events stay listed all day. An event now stays on the list until the end of the day it runs on, instead of dropping off the moment the start time passes.
- The message box clears properly after you send a message that ran to several lines on the mobile app.
- Your inbox shows the latest message in each conversation on the web app. It builds on message search and photo sets.
Limits worth knowing
- Rotate is rotate only. There is no crop. Rotation turns the photo clockwise in 90 degree steps, and you apply it yourself.
- Only photos you are adding can be rotated. A photo already saved on a listing has no rotate button. To fix one of those, remove it and add it again.
- The portrait notice is advice, not a block. You can publish portrait photos. Nothing is rejected or changed automatically.
- Upgrades are paid and go one way. Only a live listing can be upgraded. Featured Max is the top tier, so a Featured Max listing is not offered an upgrade. There is no downgrade.
- HPA in the create flow needs the app update. On an older version of the mobile app you will not be offered Parts > HPA when you list. Listings already in it show up normally.
- Dates shown at once tops out at 6, which is a fixed ceiling. You pick a number from 1 to 6 under it, and 6 is the default, which matches how series behaved before. The option only appears on recurring events.
- The window hides dates, it does not cancel them. Nothing is deleted, nobody is notified, and a cancelled date still takes up one of the slots, because "the next game runs, the one after is cancelled" is worth seeing.
- Featured events are not de-duplicated. A featured event also appears in its normal date position below.
- Threads that were already auto-archived stay archived. Nothing is brought back automatically. Un-archive them yourself if you want them in your main list.
