Club events: drafts, copying and a proper delete
Three changes for club managers: save an event as a draft before anyone sees it, copy an event you have run before, and delete one you created by mistake.
Three changes to club events shipped today, all aimed at the people running them. You can now save an event as a draft, copy an event you have run before, and delete one properly.
Everything here lives in the web app, under Club management > Events. Nothing changes in the mobile app, there is no update to install, and players do not need to do anything.
Draft events
Until now an event went live the moment you created it. If you were still chasing a venue or waiting on a price, a half-finished event sat there for everyone to see while you worked on it.
You can now give an event a title, save it, and come back later. Nobody sees a draft: not your club members, not the events feed, not anyone you send a link to. Fill in the venue, price, description and cover image whenever suits, and it only goes live when you press Publish.
Drafts sit in a new Drafts tab, alongside Upcoming and Past. Each one is marked either "Ready to publish" or "Needs details", so you can see at a glance what still needs work. That tab has no date filters, because a draft has no dates until you publish it.
Publishing a recurring event now tells you how many dates it will create before you commit, then confirms the real number once it is done. Worth knowing: publishing only goes one way. You cannot turn a published event back into a draft, so edit it or cancel it instead.
Copying an event
Recurring events already handle the repeating part: set the pattern once and the dates get generated for you. Copying is for everything that pattern does not suit.
Any event can now be copied, past or upcoming, which in effect lets you keep one as a template and publish from it whenever you need to. That gives you finer control than a recurring series does. You might not want an ongoing event sitting published far into the future, or you might prefer to decide each time whether the next one is going ahead. A recurring series also only runs to a limited number of occurrences, so building a single event and copying it as required leaves you more room to manage things your own way.
The copy arrives as a draft with everything filled in except the date, so you choose when it runs rather than accidentally republishing the old schedule. Copy a recurring event and it keeps its pattern, whether that is every Sunday, fortnightly or something else, and just needs a new starting date.
Two details worth calling out:
- If you had edited one specific date of a recurring series, copying that date brings across its own details rather than the series defaults.
- A copy gets its own cover image, so changing the image on the copy never affects the original.
Copies of past events land in Drafts too, rather than getting lost among your finished events.
Deleting an event
There is now a proper delete, and it is deliberately different from cancel. The difference matters:
- Cancel keeps the event visible and marked as cancelled, keeps every RSVP, and tells everyone who was going. Use it when an event people signed up for is not happening.
- Delete removes it completely. It does not show anywhere, nothing is marked as cancelled, it disappears from subscribed calendars, and nobody is notified. Use it for events created by mistake.
You can delete a single date, or a date and everything after it. On a recurring series, deleting all following dates also ends the series, so no new dates get generated.
Past events cannot be deleted, so your event history stays intact. And because it cannot be undone, you type "delete" to confirm.
Where to find it
Open the web app, go to your club dashboard, and pick Events. Drafts, copying and delete are all there.
