// SELLING

Marking an item as sold

Done the deal? Marking your listing as sold closes it and records who bought it, while your messages stay put. Here's how it works.

Two ways to mark an item as sold

You can close a listing from either place:

  • From the listing itself. Open your listing and tap Mark sold in the owner actions at the bottom.
  • From My Listings. Go to Profile > My Listings, find the item on the Active tab (you can also close listings from the Expired and Archived tabs), and tap Mark sold.

Choose who bought it

On the next screen, TradeSoft asks who bought it and shows the people who messaged you about that listing. Pick the buyer from that list, then tap Continue. TradeSoft uses your message threads as the record of who you dealt with, so only traders who actually messaged you about this item appear here.

Pick the buyer from the people who messaged you, or choose Sold off site.
Sold somewhere else? If the buyer never messaged you in the app, choose Sold off site. Your listing still closes, but no buyer is recorded and feedback is not available for that sale.

Enter the sold price

Next you'll confirm what the item actually sold for. Your original asking price is shown for reference, but you can enter the real figure if you negotiated. Tap Confirm sale to finish. Marking an item sold can't be undone, so double check you've picked the right buyer before you confirm.

Leaving feedback

If you selected a buyer from the app, TradeSoft takes you straight to a feedback screen so you can rate how the deal went. Once you've left yours, the buyer can leave feedback for you too, which builds the reputation that helps you close future deals faster. See leaving feedback as a seller for more. If you chose Sold off site, there's no buyer to review, so this step is skipped.

Your messages stay where they are

Closing a listing leaves your messages alone. The threads tied to it stay in your inbox, so you keep the conversation with your buyer and anything they sent you, like a delivery address, for as long as you need it.

TradeSoft used to archive those threads the moment a listing closed. It no longer does: see the 1.3.3 release notes. When you are finished with a conversation, file it away yourself with a swipe: see archiving messages.

A note on Want to Buy listings

Posted a Want to Buy listing? Closing it works the same way. When you've sorted the trade, tap Mark sold and pick the trader you dealt with from the people who messaged you, or use Sold off site if you arranged it elsewhere.
