TradeSoft 1.5.3: Upgrade and bump from anywhere, plus event questions
Upgrade and Bump buttons now sit on your listings wherever you see them, Home shows what needs doing, and new reminders tell you when a listing could use a push. You can also ask an event organiser a question from the app.
Where you can get it
Version 1.5.3 is out now on the App Store for iOS and on Google Play for Android. Everything in this post is in the mobile app. Update the app and you have it all.
This post also covers 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, two smaller releases since 1.5.0. First up are the changes for everyone: event questions, fresher feeds and a few fixes. After that come the new tools for sellers.
Ask an organiser about an event
Added in 1.5.1. Every event page now has a Questions & Answers row, with a count when there are questions. Tap it to read what others have asked about that date, or ask your own. Your question is public, and the answer comes from the club, shown under the club's name.
Until now you could only ask from the web app. Listings already had questions and answers in the app, and events now work the same way. A private message only helps the person who sent it. A public answer helps everyone thinking about going.
Club managers still answer on the website, in the club portal. The app shows managers a link to it. New to running a club on TradeSoft? Start with the club management overview.
Feeds stay up to date
Also in 1.5.1. Home, Market, Events, Clubs, Retailers, Discussions, The Armoury and the Leaderboard now reload when you come back to them. Before, they only loaded the first time you opened them, so new posts didn't show until you pulled down to refresh. If you come back within 10 seconds, you see what was already there, so switching quickly between tabs doesn't reload every page.
Publishing a draft no longer closes the app
Fixed in 1.5.2. The app could close when you tapped Publish on a draft priced $350 or more, and the only way around it was to edit the draft and publish from there. Publish now works directly. If the page ever fails to load, you will see a message and a Try again button, not a closed app.
Smaller fixes
- The Want to buy label is now centred on the listing photo.
- After you create a listing, closing the confirmation or going back returns you to where you started. Before, you could land back in the listing setup steps.
Upgrade and Bump wherever your listing is
Every active listing in My listings now has an Upgrade listing button and a Bump now button. Your own listings show the same two buttons in Market and on their listing page.
- Upgrade listing takes you straight to the tier choice, with Featured Max picked. A Featured Max listing has no higher tier to move to, so it only shows Bump now.
- Bump now asks you to confirm before it uses a credit. If you have no credits, it offers you some.
- After a bump, the button reads Bumped with the time left. Each listing can be bumped once every 24 hours, so the button tells you when you can bump again, without you having to try.
Before this, upgrading or bumping meant going looking for the option. Now it is on the listing you are already looking at.
A clearer choice when you list
When you publish a listing, the tier cards now run Featured Max, Featured, then Post Free. The preview shows how your listing will look in each tier. The button reads Select a plan until you pick one, then Create listing with the price.
Save draft has moved. Close the listing with the X and the app asks whether you want to save it as a draft.
The Help Centre explains what each tier does in free, Featured and Featured Max listings.
A free bump with Featured Max
Each Featured Max listing you buy now comes with 1 free bump credit, added to your Bump credits. You can use it on any of your listings, not only the one you featured.
This applies to Featured Max listings bought from this release on.
Home shows what needs doing
When one of your listings needs attention, Home lists it above List an item, under the heading “Here’s what’s waiting for you.” You will see up to three rows:
- Bump now (or Renew) for the listing that has slipped furthest down Market
- Upgrade for your most expensive listing at $100 or more that isn't featured
- Reactivate for your most recently expired listing.
If more of your listings need the same thing, a link takes you to them in My listings. When nothing needs doing, the section doesn't show at all.
Home also has a new row of the latest listings that aren't featured. The last tile, + More, opens Market.
Reminders after you list
Two kinds of reminder now follow a new listing:
- Bump reminders arrive about a day after you post a listing, and again at two weeks, if it could use a bump.
- Featured listing tips arrive about 20 minutes after you post a free listing of $350 or more.
Each one comes as an email, a push notification and an in-app alert. Tapping it opens Listing tips, which shows where each of your listings stands right now. A listing that has already sold, been bumped or been featured isn't offered the same thing again.
The first day is when a new listing gets most of its views, so that is when a reminder is most useful. Two weeks in, most of the people who were going to see it already have.
The reminders are on by default. To turn the email or push versions off, go to Your account > Settings > Email notifications or Your account > Settings > Push notifications, where Bump reminders and Featured listing tips each have their own switch. More on push settings in managing push notifications.
Bump credits, clearer
The Bump credits page now shows the price per bump and the pack total. Bigger packs show how much you save compared with buying single bumps.
Your account > Bump credits > Bump history now lists the packs you bought and any free credits, alongside the bumps you have used. How bumps work is covered in bumping a listing.
Limits worth knowing
- Event questions are per date. A question belongs to one date, not to every date of a recurring event. Each question can be up to 1000 characters.
- Up to 3 unanswered questions per date. You can ask more once the organiser replies.
- Questions close when the event starts, and on cancelled dates.
- Managers answer on the website, not in the app. The club portal needs two-factor sign-in, so answering stays there.
- In-app reminder alerts can't be turned off. Email and push have their own switches. The in-app alert stays so you still see the reminder in the app with email and push turned off.
- The one-day bump reminder and featured listing tips aren't held back at night. Your phone's Do Not Disturb setting handles that. The two-week reminder goes out in the evening.
- Bump reminders are for For sale listings priced $50 or more. Featured listing tips are only for For sale listings of $350 or more that were posted free, and come at most once a week. Want to buy listings get neither.
- Push reminders need 1.5.3 or later. Earlier versions of the app don't receive them.
- One free bump per Featured Max purchase, from this release on. Earlier purchases don't get one.
- Each listing can be bumped once every 24 hours.
- Upgrades only go up a tier. Upgrade listing opens the tier choice straight away, and payment goes through the App Store or Google Play as normal.
- Home's seller section shows at most three rows, and only when something needs doing. The row of latest listings only shows when there are enough listings to fill it.
