TradeSoft x Special FX: teaming up for Kiwi airsoft
TradeSoft has partnered with Special FX, one of the most recognisable names in New Zealand airsoft. We will be promoting each other across our channels, with one shared goal: growing the sport.
We are stoked to announce that TradeSoft has partnered with Special FX, one of the most recognisable names in New Zealand airsoft. Both of us will be promoting each other across our channels, with one shared goal: growing the sport and making it easier for Kiwi players to get involved.
Who are Special FX?
If you have played outdoor airsoft in New Zealand in the last few years, there is a good chance you have already run into Special FX's work.
They are a Kiwi company that does a bit of everything. They stock airsoft gear and their own in-house product line, they supply pyrotechnics, and they produce some of the biggest events in the country. They are the team behind the New Zealand Airsoft League (NZAL) National Championship and the Operation Armoured Fury series, and they are the NZ representative for Skirmesh, the electronic scoring system that tracks points and player stats live across large-scale games.
In short, they have spent years pushing NZ airsoft beyond "turn up and shoot" and towards something bigger, better organised, and more fun to be part of.
Why this partnership makes sense
When we relaunched AirsoftTrader as TradeSoft, the aim was never just to build another place to flog a used rifle. The goal was to build something for the whole community: players, clubs, teams, fields, and the businesses that keep the sport going.
Special FX has been doing the same thing from the events side. They bring people together on the field. We want to help keep that community connected off it: buying and selling gear, finding events, and discovering the clubs and businesses near you.
So from here on, you will see Special FX events featured in TradeSoft, along with in-app promotion for their events and store. Special FX also has its own retailer page in the app and on the web, so you can find them alongside the rest of the community.
It is a natural fit, and we are genuinely grateful for the kind words in their announcement today.
Their next event: the NZAL National Championship final
If you want to see what Special FX do best, the third and final round of the New Zealand Airsoft League National Championship runs in a few weeks: Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, 8am to 5pm both days, co-hosted with Taranaki Airsoft Rangers at 590 Denbigh Road, Midhurst, Taranaki. Twelve hectares of bush, open field, forest and buildings, with Mt Taranaki sitting in the background.
The Championship is the country's premier large-scale competitive outdoor series, scored electronically through Skirmesh. It runs as multi-round conquest games where squads and individuals build up points across the weekend, with a Disruptor team thrown in as wild cards to keep nobody too comfortable.
Tickets are $100 for a Championship Competitor, $120 with a wristband, or $50 for a Disruptor spot. They have to be bought in advance, so there are no gate sales on the day.
Full details and tickets are on the TradeSoft event page.

If you have not tried TradeSoft yet
TradeSoft is the marketplace built for Kiwi airsofters. Here is what you get:
- Free listings, no commission. List your gear for free. We do not take a cut when it sells, and we do not force you to pay through us.
- Private messaging so buyers and sellers can sort out the details directly.
- Feedback and reputation so you can see who you are dealing with before you trade.
- Phone verification and club verification badges. Clubs can vouch for their members, which adds another layer of trust to every trade.
- Browse by region across all 15 NZ regions to find gear close to home.
- Events, clubs, and businesses. List your next game, showcase your club, or put your business in front of the community.
- Featured listings and bumps if you want your gear seen by more people.
- Feature requests and voting. Tell us what to build next, and vote on what others have suggested. A lot of what is in the app today came straight from the community.
And there is plenty more on the way.
Thank you
A big thanks to the Special FX team for backing what we are building. Partnerships like this are how a small sport in a small country keeps growing, and we are excited to see what we can do together.
See you on the field (and in the app).
